Pigs might fly

Well-not fly exactly. This little pedigree Berkshire piglet was just a few weeks old and still learning to fly. Only joking-it had been placed on the shoulders of The Sunday Telegraph's Retail Editor James Hall as a joke by farmer Kevin Coe. If I'm honest, I had been concentrating on the look on James face and only saw the look the pig was giving me afterwards on my photo.
The piglet was one of several I photographed at Glebe Farm for rare breeds in Ashorne. Storywise the photo doesn't really fit-it was about the plight of the pig farmer in the UK. Thats why most of the other photos were on a more serious note. Feed prices have gone up by 50% since last year and the number of pig farmers is in steep decline as the price of keeping pigs is higher than revenues from selling their meat. In nine days up to 500 pig farmers will descend on Whitehall to protest about the state of the UK pig industry.

Hehe. Sadly, my prediction was right. The Editor thought this picture looked too cutesy and didn't match the gravity of the story-so it didn't get used.
